Management

Allan-ShirtAllan Evora | CMVP | President

Allan D. Evora is a leading expert in control systems integration and president of Affinity Energy with over 20 years of industry experience working in every capacity of the power automation project life cycle. With a background at Boeing Company and General Electric, Allan made the decision to establish Affinity Energy in 2002. Allan is an alumnus of Syracuse University with a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering, graduate of the NC State Energy Management program, and qualified as a Certified Measurement & Verification Professional (CMVP).

Throughout his career, Allan has demonstrated his passion for providing solutions. In 1990, he developed FIRST (Fast InfraRed Signature Technique), a preliminary design software tool used to rapidly assess rotary craft infrared signatures. In 2008, Allan was the driving force behind the development of Affinity Energy's Utilitrend; a commercially available, cloud-based utility resource trending, tracking, and reporting software.

Allan has been instrumental on large scale integration projects for utilities, universities, airports, financial institutions, medical campus utility plants, and manufacturing corporations, and has worked with SCADA systems since the early ‘90s. A passion for data acquisition, specialty networks, and custom software drives him to incorporate openness, simplicity, and integrity into every design in which he is involved.


Adam-SuitAdam Baker | Senior Sales Executive

Adam Baker is Senior Sales Executive at Affinity Energy with responsibility for providing subject matter expertise in utility-scale solar plant controls, instrumentation, and data acquisition. With 23 years of experience in automation and control, Adam’s previous companies include Rockwell Automation (Allen-Bradley), First Solar, DEPCOM Power, and GE Fanuc Automation.

Adam was instrumental in the development and deployment of three of the largest PV solar power plants in the United States, including 550 MW Topaz Solar in California, 290 MW Agua Caliente Solar in Arizona, and 550 MW Desert Sunlight in the Mojave Desert.

After a 6-year stint in controls design and architecture for the PV solar market, Adam joined Affinity Energy in 2016 and returned to sales leadership, where he has spent most of his career. Adam has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, and has been active in environmental and good food movements for several years.

 

Project Management

Ayanna-SuitAyanna Edwards | PMP | Project Manager

Ayanna Edwards is a Project Manager for Affinity Energy with responsibility for power automation, solar services, and account support, ensuring customers receive exceptional service and personal attention to their needs. She joined Affinity Energy in 2015, bringing over 15 years of engineering, technical, and project management experience as a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) in industries such as electronics, automotive, construction, manufacturing, and clean fossil energy.

Beginning her career as a Technical Sales Engineer in manufacturing, Ayanna’s skills in customer-focused solution development, resource orchestration, and alignment of supplier performance with customer expectations quickly led her into project management leadership roles at AdzZoo, Henkel, and Dow Corning. At CoaLogix, Ayanna afforded customers extended performance and significant cost savings through successful management of her portfolio valued at over $20MM.

Ayanna graduated from North Carolina A&T State University with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and enjoys an active lifestyle of jogging, dance, volunteering, and travel with family and friends.

 

Engineering

Brad-PoloBradley Mull | Application Engineer

Bradley Mull is an Application Engineer at Affinity Energy, with over 17 years in software development and systems integration.

Bradley’s achievements at Affinity Energy include significant contributions to the data center company Quality Technology Services (QTS), the CEP SCADA system for Carolina Healthcare System, and the Duke Energy OSG SCADA system for monitoring emergency power generation at customer sites.

Prior to joining Affinity Energy in 2008, Bradley worked as a Software Developer at AGV Products, and as an Electronics Engineer for the U.S. Army Research Laboratory.

Bradley graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, so he understands there are 10 types of people in the world: those who understand binary, and those who don’t.

Victor-PoloVictor Tran | MCP | Application Engineer

Victor Tran is an Application Engineer at Affinity Energy, with over four years of experience in web and software development. His responsibilities include maintaining Affinity Energy’s in-house energy tracking, trending, and reporting tool Utilitrend, managing the company’s IT infrastructure, and developing in-house applications.

Victor began his career at Central Washington University as a Web Content Specialist, and transitioned to Lead Android Developer at YBU Mobile where he developed a Google Play app with over 5,000 downloads. He joined Affinity Energy in 2013 and subsequently gained his certification in VTScada operations and configuration training, certification in VTScada advanced configuration and scripting, and Microsoft Certified Professional accreditation. His contributions at Affinity Energy include major enhancements to the emergency monitoring systems at Bank of America and the City of Concord Utilitrend system.

Victor graduated from Central Washington University with a B.S. in Computer Science and double minored in Mathematics and IT Web Design and Project Management. He enjoys learning new technologies and keeping up with industry standards.

Shashank Navaratna | Application Engineer

Shashank Navaratna is an Application Engineer at Affinity Energy with responsibility for installing hardware, integrating Modbus networks, setting up site local area networks, configuring remote access connections, programming data loggers and other I/O devices, coding alarming logic, and integrating full remote monitoring systems.

With a strong educational background in controls and instrumentation, Shashank joined Affinity Energy in 2016. His previous work experience includes an internship at Honeywell Process Solutions where he gained hands-on experience in process control technologies like distributed control systems and PLCs.

Shashank graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a Master of Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. In his free time, Shashank plays cricket, soccer, and loves to sketch still life.

Albert Zhang | EIT | Application Engineer

Albert Zhang is an Application Engineer at Affinity Energy, with ten years of experience in industrial control systems. He is experienced with DCS/PLC/SCADA programming and control panel design in the power and water/wastewater industry, with experience in chemical plants and machinery controls.

His responsibilities include developing PLC/SCADA applications with software from various vendors, object-oriented programming, and drafting with autoCAD for low voltage applications.

Albert Zhang graduated from Kansas State University with a B.S. in electrical engineering. In his free time, Albert enjoys traveling, gardening, and collecting currency and stamps from different countries.

 

Field Services

Zack-SuitZack Smith | CCST | Field Services Manager

Zack Smith is an accomplished Field Services Manager at Affinity Energy, and as a Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST) with 20 years of experience, has responsibility for managing our dedicated team of field engineers and field technicians. While Zack spends most of his time developing and building the field services team, he is more than capable of rolling up his sleeves and leading by example.

As a member of the U.S. Navy Submarine force for eight years, Zack began his career by serving as a technician of the submarine-launched Trident ballistic missile. Over the next few years, he gained top secret clearance, made a handful of 4-month deterrent patrols during the Cold War, was decorated repeatedly, earned his associate’s degree in Industrial Electronics, and was selected to be a naval instructor within the submarine fleet.

Upon his honorable discharge, Zack pursued a career in industrial automation at manufacturing companies Sandvik and Delphi Automotive, and became an expert in programming industrial automation machinery and robotics. After spending six years as Head Applications Engineer at an industrial automation supplier, he joined the Affinity Energy team in 2010.

Zack’s contributions include major enhancements to SCADA systems at Carolinas Healthcare System, Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Tunnel, and the University of Virginia, along with numerous utility-scale PV integrations.

Josh-ShirtJoshua King | Application Engineer

Joshua King is an Application Engineer at Affinity Energy with responsibility for installing hardware, integrating Modbus networks, setting up site local area networks, configuring remote access connections, programming data loggers and other I/O devices, coding alarming logic, and integrating full remote monitoring systems at industrial-scale solar farms.

After building and testing a colored dye solar cell in high school, and graduating with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering at Clemson University, Joshua knew he would pursue a career related to solar power. With a strong educational background in solar and renewable energy, Joshua joined Affinity Energy in 2015.

His contributions include major enhancements to the remote monitoring systems at 20MW Gates County Solar Farm, 3MW Tolson Solar Farm, and 5MW Rockwell Solar Farm. Joshua is a classically-trained violin player, but really enjoys playing the fiddle. He played in a bluegrass band called Slim Pickens for three years.

Chris-ShirtChris Cook | Field Services Specialist

Chris Cook is a Field Services Specialist at Affinity Energy, where he is responsible for the installation of instrumentation and controls at utility-scale PV systems. In his prior role, Chris was responsible for assisting the project management team with part procurement. His curiosity, hands-on demeanor, and work ethic made him a perfect fit for the field service team.

Chris began his career at Insource Performance Solutions as a Business Development Analyst, where he worked to find, analyze, and build relationships with Fortune 500 business prospects in the manufacturing industry. Chris joined Affinity Energy in 2014 where he started as a Business Support Specialist. Two years later, he transitioned to Field Services, where he ensures all control system components are professionally installed and ready to be commissioned by field engineers.

Chris attended University of North Carolina at Charlotte for a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and Business and recently joined the ranks of homeownership.

 

Administration

Mary-DressMary Evora | Finance Manager

Mary Evora is Finance Manager at Affinity Energy with responsibility for all aspects of Affinity Energy's financial operations, accounting systems, financing activities, and human resource processes.

Mary joined Affinity Energy in 2003, bringing over 25 years of business experience in the area of purchasing, contracts, and finance. Her fiscal influence has allowed Affinity Energy to grow responsibly and organically; while also making key investments in its facility and strategic R&D initiatives.

Prior to joining the Affinity Energy team, Mary was Director of Contracts and Procurement for Verizon and responsible for a $300MM parts and equipment budget. She also consulted with the country's leading medical insurer, providing strategic IT sourcing solutions and contract negotiation.

Mary has a Bachelor of Business Administration from Michigan State University and her favorite place is the island of Eleuthera.

Meaghan Fowler | Accounting Coordinator

Meaghan Fowler is the Accounting Coordinator at Affinity Energy, where she is responsible for reconciliations, financial reports, budget development, accounts receivable, and accounting controls. Prior to joining Affinity Energy in 2016, Meaghan studied at UNC Charlotte and worked as an Internal Controls Intern for Electrolux.

Working at Electrolux, Meaghan was responsible for ensuring control effectiveness by validating journal entries and reconciliations, performing sample selections, and creating internal control monitoring tools.

Meaghan attended The University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and graduated with a B.S. in Accounting. Outside of work, Meaghan enjoys being outdoors playing tennis, hiking, and camping.

Amanda-PoloAmanda Harmon | Corporate Communication Specialist

Amanda Harmon is Corporate Communication Specialist at Affinity Energy and responsible for defining brand identity, implementing B2B marketing plans, supervising SEO, managing media relations outreach, working with subject matter experts, and executing content marketing strategy.

Amanda began her career at SecurityMetrics, working for five years in a B2B technical data security environment developing and delivering to a strategic inbound marketing plan. After a year of employment as a freelance writer, she joined Affinity Energy in 2016.

A graduate of Utah State University with a B.S. in Journalism and Communications and an emphasis in Public Relations, Amanda is a BrightEdge and Hootsuite Certified Professional. When she’s not testing creative dinner recipes, she’s brainstorming new tricks to teach her dog.
