Lufft WS500

Lufft WS500

The WS500 is an all-in-one weather monitoring instrument combining anemometer, rainfall, temperature, humidity, and barometric pressure sensors in one instrument. It talks a protocol called SDI-12. It does have an option that integrates a pyranometer, but it’s a first class pyranometer. It’s less accurate, but can be used as a GHI irradiance measurements. Like most all-in-one instruments, it’s easier to deploy an all-in-one than a combination of sensors, but does cost more, and if any part of the instrument fails, the entire instrument fails.
When compared to the Vaisala WXT520, the Lufft WS500 is a little easier to implement.
