Derek Pastwick is a Control System Integrator at Affinity Energy. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of North Carolina with over seven years of controls experience in power generation. Derek is responsible for the design, engineering, testing, commissioning, and supporting of PLC-based control systems, Human Machine Interfaces, and SCADA systems.
Derek began his career in Electrical Engineering as an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer designing next generation Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR) control systems for Areva NP, Inc. In an effort to find a more dynamic and less regulated engineering environment, Derek joined Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) as an Automation Engineer where he engineered and commissioned custom solutions using SEL automation controllers, industry standard network equipment, and microprocessor-based relays for SCADA, EPMS, and industrial control applications. Upon returning to Instrumentation and Controls engineering with Fluor, Derek was the responsible I&C engineer for design and BOP integration of the Combustion Turbine Generators and associated fuel and emissions systems for the Greensville County and Brunswick County 3-on-1 Combined Cycle Power Plants.
Derek attended The University of North Carolina at Charlotte where he earned his Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering. In 2014, he earned his license as a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of North Carolina. Outside of work, Derek is growing in his Christian faith, enjoys Christian apologetics, international missions, as well as personal fitness and anything outdoors.
